2015 in love and colour....it's been emotional!

My goodness, another roller coaster year has flown by again in a beautiful blur. It's that time of year for reflection and looking back at the ocean of images marking the year, I feel truly honoured to have met and made friends with so many wonderful couples who have entrusted me to story tell their wedding day. There has been much yo-yoing about and plenty of adventure leading me to a wild mix of locations including chi chi Mediterranean sun kissed celebrations one week, to wellies and fun on the family dairy farm the next, followed by a dreamy fairytale Danish castle! It's been hectic but I've had a blast. Each wedding teaches or introduces me to something new, keeping me on my toes and often fascinating: be it Scandi wedding traditions such as cutting the Groom's socks at the end of the night, Norwegian cake cutting; girlie group shots mimicking the dancer emoji, the couple's young daughter joining the couple during the ceremony then signalling the thumbs up to the vicar followed by scrambling onto an ornate church chair to blow a few raspberries while the signing of the register proceeded...and not forgetting the surprise Dutch line up of family members dressed up as nuns serenading the happy couple with a personalised song preforming after the unveiling of a cake table only found in dreams, to name a few!

I do love a detail and am partial to a pretty pair of shoes but this year I have been thinking more and more about how wedding photos become historical and precious memories of loved ones. I love to capture the fleeting moments full of emotion: an embrace with a happy tear, a proud smile or glance, a hearty hug from an elderly relative so happy to play a part of the day. Freezing such moments in the click of a shutter is one of the highlights of being a wedding photographer. In October I attended Way Up North, a photography event held in Stockholm.  I came away feeling inspired and moved beyond my imagination. It felt such a privilege to attend the first of it's kind and listen to inspirational big name speakers in an intimate historic theatre location. I left with a new surge of inspiration, love for my craft and reinforced feeling of the significance and importance of photographing the people that make up a wedding - family, friends, emotion and the love that bonds and brings everyone together.

Aside from working with real couples, I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot the campaign for the talented wedding dress designer, Tara Bradley-Birt Bridal. Who knew so much fun could be had chasing deer around Rhododendron bushes!? Special thanks to models, Emily, Hannah and of course Siobhan for tirelessly holding uncomfortable poses on her magical hoop!

Colourful fireworks punctuate the sky, leaving glittery trails behind them as I type. It seems a fitting way to say farewell to 2015 with all it's colour and fun. I look forward to the new adventures that 2016 will bring, and getting to know my future couples.

Heart felt thanks to my wonderful couples for sharing their day with me. Big whoops and thanks to my talented second shooters Maddie and Lorna who have been brilliant in every way. Wishing everyone a very Happy Healthy 2016! Peace and LOVE! X
