Farvel * Farewell 2014 - Here's the year in moments and memories!

I always feel a little emotional as the year draws to a close, it's my time for reflection and contemplation. I especially experience this when I gather images together to celebrate with the end of year collation. Flicking through the many memories brings to the fore for me; the power of images and their innate ability to stir up emotion and tap into memory, to recall moments, sights and smells. It's been a joy sifting through and reliving the fun times.... 2014 really has been a great year with HUGE thanks in abundance to all my amazing couples for sharing their day with me. It's always such an honour to photograph intimate celebrations and I can't thank my couples, their welcoming friends and family and their talented suppliers enough for making 2014 so lovely.

Heaps of thanks and love also to my talented second shooters; Maddie and Lucy, for doing a stella job and for being super supportive and fun to have around on the day.

So... the wedding season was a roller-coaster of tulle whizzing by at great speed leaving little time for reflection of the happenings of the year, the wonderful couples I've met, the places I've discovered, that have been frozen in time in the form of a picture, holding lasting memories. It's been lovely reliving all those special moments.

For me, one of the great attractions of wedding photography is variety, whether that be personalities, styling, venues -  the whole shebang. No wedding is ever the same and it's always a pleasure to discover how each couple's plans have evolve, eagerly following their progress during the run up to their day. There is so much creativity nowadays! Having whirred through all my images from the year, in one go, I am amazed at how the wedding industry has changed over the last few years, with couples embracing all forms of creativity and personalisation - it's becoming even more creative than ever before. I feel so fortunate to have photographed weddings that have had that special personal touch, whether the bride has produced a linocut invitation, sewn up 100 Christmas  stocking favours, or taken the care to print a heap of photos from the past featuring each guest with either the Bride or Groom, accompanied by a handwritten note for each guest - simply amazing. These little things blow me away.

2014 you have been a whirlwind of a year full of fun, adventure, attempting to learn a new lingo, new experiences and pastures new. Just as the wedding season fired up, I upped sticks with my hubster and two cats to make a new nest in Copenhagen, Denmark (crazy timing I know!). This has been a wonderful new chapter that has truly quenched my wanderlust and love of all things new. I still adore to return to the UK to shoot weddings and catch up with friends and family. However, Copenhagen has created a lovely fresh wave of inspiration. Not only the city but the Danes and their approach to living life has made a refreshing influence on me and brought a new perspective on how to live a healthy happy fulfilled life (this probably sounds really profound!). Anyway, I feel very grateful and excited by this new chapter and can't wait to see what the New Year has in store. I'm loving the Danish way of life; the light, cycling along with the wind in my hair, the sea, the water, the sunny summer, the cosy winter.....oh and the vintage shops and Danish pastries! It's been hectic year of settling into a new country but Danish culture has instilled a new sense of calm which has been brilliant during busy periods when the edits have been piling high!

Wishing all my couples past and present, blog readers and wedding suppliers a very Happy Healthy 2015 full of Peace and Love! x
