Sneak Preview: Matthias & Dagmar's elegant Islington Town Hall and J & A Cafe Wedding in London, UK

On Saturday I had the great pleasure of photographing the sweetest couple, Dagmar and Matthias. They held a wonderfully intimate wedding celebration, full of understated elegance and style. Many guests travelled from Germany to witness this happy day. I've been excitedly following Dagmar's never ending Pinterest board, so knew the day would be awash with beautiful mint and blush tones (my favourite) and lovely details, but oh my nothing quite prepared me for so much pretty. Dagmar looked quite the Hollywood starlet from a bygone era. Her statuesque figure and elegant demeanour set her dress off perfectly, a modern day Marlene Dietrich... Matthias and Dagmar decided to meet before the ceremony for a "first look". This is the first time I've captured such an event, and I hope it won't be the last as it was such a joy to photograph pure emotion. The "first look" is traditionally seen in the US, and rarely occurs in the UK. It was moving to watch the couple’s first glances at one another, both looking so beautiful; I think I was just as excited as the couple! After their Islington Town Hall ceremony, everyone jumped on a red route master bus to the J & A Cafe in Clerkenwell for feasting, sipping champagne from vintage saucers and dancing to the 1920s band called Albert Ball's Flying Aces. I hope you enjoy my first few favourite images from the day; I can't wait to work on the rest!   :) LOVE x

2013... what a beautiful whirlwind of a year!

Oh my 2013, my feet have hardly touched the ground - you have been a beautiful blur! Here are just a few of my favourite moments...

I'd like to take this opportunity to send my warmest thanks to my couples for sharing their day with me. A huge thank you also to all the suppliers and hair and make-up artists that I've had the pleasure to work with, plus my ever supportive friends and family (I hope to see you more in 2014). And a special thank you to my incredibly patient hubby and not forgetting the kindly weather Gods who have been brilliant this year, dishing out sunshine a plenty and minimal downpours. Wishing you all a very Happy Healthy New Year - may it be a vintage one. I can't wait to create lots of beautiful memories for my 2014 couples - it's going to be  lovely!

Whirring through a year of images selecting my favourites for this post has been a bit of an emotional journey...I ended up with a gazillion or two and no idea where to start so here are the images that were in my head as I drove home at the end of the day....ahem I warn you that there are still quite a few so it may be an idea to pop the kettle on and find a hunk of Christmas cake/slab of choc and enjoy the show!

One of the best bits for me has to be learning so much about different cultures and their various customs, which never cease to fascinate me. I so loved learning about the Swedish custom of the Bride picking seven species of flowers, and laying them under her pillow, which would subsequently reveal her husband in her dreams - I'm a sucker for all these traditions! Here's a mighty mix of my favourite moments all jumbled up into a bit of whirl....in no particular order....here goes.... Happy viewing :)

 LOVE x
